New Zealand So Far

So…. it’s been like, 2 weeks? Two weeks since I arrived in Auckland, New Zealand. It hasn’t been that bad. I’m enjoying most of my time here, I guess. But, I still miss my country.

I was really sad when I left Jakarta. But, what can I do right? So, when I arrived, I ate. I went to a mall and ate kebab. It was really expensive, 100 thousand rupiah, or 14 New Zealand dollars for a kebab, fries and coke. I slept at 6 in the evening, because I didn’t sleep on the 10 hour flight, I watched four movies instead. Anyway, I woke up at 1 in the morning the next day and went online at two after eating some snacks. And I slept at 7 in the morning again.

The first week was not that bad. I can’t say that it was great though. I ate a lot of fast food and watched a lot of rugby too. The first week was practically like a vacation.

On the second week, there was some stuff to do. We had to find a school, a home and I also had to find out what was wrong with my new Blackberry.

Before we actually thoroughly checked everywhere, we only had our eyes on one school: Takapuna Grammar School. But, as we explored Auckland, four other schools were also considered. They were Westlake Boys/Girls High School, Rangitoto College, Mt Roskill Grammar and Maclean’s College. Mt Roskill Grammar and Rangitoto college were quickly erased. I was confused on what I wanted. The thing is that the schools depend on where we lived, so if I live in Takapuna, then I go to Takapuna Grammar, get it?

At last, we found a house in a suburb named Milford, we moved in, so automatically, I have to go to an all boy school: Westlake Boys High School. But, I don’t start until mid-October, because that’s when the new term starts. So I got a longer holiday!

But I have nothing to do…

My house has no internet yet, so I’m doing this in a public library. I have been to four public libraries now. Two in the north, one in the east, and one downtown. It’s great that they have these things here..

I read a really nice book in one library. It was called Small Steps, by Louis Sachar. I think. It taught me something really important. But I don’t know how to write it down, so I won’t. The other books I read were not pleasing to my eye.

At home, I’ve been watching a lot of TV. And the TV here is very…liberal…. But I have had fun watching Kiwi stuff, and a lot of Hollywood too. I have also been playing games on my new computer, that I made MYSELF.

That’s about it I think. What else should I say? My family stumbled upon a really nice Indonesian family, and we are now acquainted. I’m really hoping I can get a dog here. The Black Eyed Peas are coming. I get really cold at night. I do a lot of walking here. And yeah, I still miss Indonesia… But, I’m trying to enjoy myself here anyway.
